WirtschaftsWoche, Koelnmesse - organiser of the ORGATEC specialist trade fair - and Darmstadt University of Technology's Institute of Ergonomics (IAD) will be awarding prizes for the fourth time as part of the "BEST OFFICE 2010" competition. The prizes will be awarded to companies whose offices:
 
- forge new paths in communication;
- promote the well-being of their employees;
- implement innovative lighting, acoustic, furnishing, flooring or media technology concepts;
- and at the same time uses resources efficiently to help protect the climate and be more at one with nature.
 
For the first time, the "planning mind" behind the innovative office concept will also be presented with a BEST OFFICE award. Along with the company that runs the office, office furniture suppliers, lighting and other specialist companies, dealers, architects and interior designers, project developers, planning offices, specialist engineers (e.g. for air conditioning, acoustics), facility management specialists and other consultants who have contributed considerably to the development and implementation of the "innovative office concept" will be awarded for the first time.

For more than 45 years, the Institute of Ergonomics (IAD) at the Darmstadt University of Technology has enjoyed great renown in Germany and abroad for its contributions to ensuring that workplaces, products and services are designed with users’ needs in mind. In cooperation with partners from the private and public sectors, practice-oriented research projects are carried out in the following fields of research: Work Design / Work Organisation, Product Ergonomics / Interface Design, Vehicle Ergonomics and Production Ergonomics.
